Critters, Famous Figures, and Stewed Rat: A Trade Post

So here are some cards that Adam from ARPsmith's Sportscard Obsession was kind enough to send my way in exchange for some Ginter to help him on his journey to complete his set.  I really lack the motivation and writing ability to give this post proper elaboration so you won't see many words once the colorful pictures begin.

The Hardships of a Fickle Team Collector

Once again I am changing the way I collect cards.  After reading this post on All the Way to the Backstop and this post by Capewood, I realized that I had the same problem they face as team collectors.

Being a huge Atlanta Braves fan, I ultimately wanted to get my hands on any card that featured a player in a Braves jersey.  As a kid, whenever I ripped opened a pack and saw the Braves jersey on a card, I was stoked but nowadays, when I flip through my binders, I only get that feeling when I see certain cards while all the other cards leave me with a feeling of apathy.

What's in the Cards for the AFC West in 2012?

Continuing with the series that I started yesterday.

Today the blasters give their take on the AFC West:

Denver Broncos

1 #ed Parallel (Brock Osweiler Artist's Proof /32)

Tebow is out and now Manning is the man in Denver but young Brock Osweiler must develop quickly in case the elder Manning faces any health issues during the season.  Meanwhile, Elvis Dumervil looks for a repeat performance of a solid 2011 season.

What's in the Cards for the NFC West in 2012?

So I picked up a couple of football blasters from Wal-Mart this weekend and I thought it would be a fun little idea to let the cards make their own predictions on how the NFL season will pan out.  I opted for one blaster of 2012 Score and one blaster of 2012 Topps Football.  Here's a simple scoring system I put into place for cards to make their predictions:

Base card = 1 point
Insert/Parallel = 2 points
#ed Parallel = 3 points
Variation SP = 4 points
Hit Card (relic, auto, manupatch) = 5 points

Let's do this division by division shall we.  First up, the NFC West

San Francisco 49'ers

4 Base Cards
1 Parallel (NaVorro Bowman glossy)
In the Cards Prediction Score = 6 points

With two kickers and two defensive players, the cards predict that the defending NFC West champs will have to rely heavily on their defense and special teams as well as solid play from QB Alex Smith in order to be successful in 2012

Buildings, History, and Blubber: A Trade Post

I know all of you are tired of seeing Ginter on my blog but I just completed a trade with Chris over at Nachos Grande.  I sent Chris some Ginter off of his wantlist in exchange for some Ginter off of my wantlist.

Community Choice Collection: Ginter Winners

These are the winners, chosen by you to be added to the Community Choice Collection.  Thanks to everyone that voted!

It's no surprise that Phelps garnered enough votes to make it into the CCC.  The man just recently cemented himself as the greatest male swimmer of all time and he became the most decorated Olympian in history.  Winning 22 total medals with 18 golds is just ridiculous.

The Card Hobbyist July in Review

Just a quick review of the blog, collecting, and sports for the month of July.

Post Count: 7
That 2 more posts than last month but still not on the level I would like.  Next month should see a few more posts as summer begins to wind down and football season begins to get underway plus I have the Gint-A-Cuffs posts to boost my count as well.

Total Page Views: 573
Just about the same amount of page views that I got last month.  Thanks to all the readers

July's Most Popular Post
Erickson Caps Off a Decade of Excellence
I'm not really sure what attracted so many readers to this post.  Probably because it was my last post before a lull of 18 days of not posting.  Or perhaps I should add the words "Decade of Excellence" to more posts.
